Solar & Heat Pump Rebates in Nova Scotia

Reduce the Cost of Upgrading

CF Electrical helps Nova Scotia homeowners and Small Business owners take advantage of available rebates, incentives, and financing options when installing energy saving upgrades. While programs change over time, current incentives can significantly reduce upfront and overhead expenses with the right approach.

Available Incentives for Residential Customers

Solar PV

  • Efficiency Nova Scotia SolarHomes Rebate: Save $0.30 per Watt up to a maximum rebate of $3,000 on eligible grid-connected solar installations.
  • Net Metering with Nova Scotia Power: Earn direct energy credits on your utility bill by sending your surplus solar generation back to the provincial grid.

Heat Pumps

  • Federal National Heat Pump Rebate: Access a streamlined federal rebate providing $2,000 for standard installations, or up to $10,000 for eligible low-to-median-income households. This is the new program for 2027. Current information verifies that installations completed after November 1, 2026 will be eligible for this incentive when it becomes available. More details to follow.
  • Home Energy Assessment Rebates: Receive $300 to $600 per ton (capped at a $5,000 maximum) through the standard Efficiency Nova Scotia energy assessment pathway.
  • Moderate Income Rebate (MIR) Top-up: Unlock up to an additional $5,000 (for a combined maximum cap of $10,000) if your household falls within the province’s moderate-income limits.
  • HomeWarming Program: Qualify for 100% fully covered heat pump and weatherization installations if your household matches provincial low-income brackets.
  • African Nova Scotian Communities Retrofit : Similar program to Homewarming only has different eligibility requirement and is limited to African Nova Scotians in Guysborough and Preston Township.
